Are HDMI switches lossless?

Hi

Do HDMI switches (2 inputs 1 output) pass through the signal OK, or do they degrade it? I remember back in the with SCART switch you'd get a noticeable loss in image quality. Is this still the case? Or do they work OK these days? (obviously you wouldn't see a change sharpness/colour etc as it's digital, I mean artifacts etc)

We have a wall mounted TV which used to have 2 HDMI cables running to it, but the plug on one got broken. I have tried and tried and simply *cannot* run another cable through - it keeps getting jammed on something well out of reach (My hands were literally bleeding at the end of my final attempt). Constantly switching the remaining HDMI cable between the Playstation and the Switch is driving me nuts, and probably isn't good for the plug either. I figure a switch is the way to go, but don't know if they're any good.
