Used to play counter-strike quite alot back in the day. Thinking about buying a new graphics card and getting CS source. Do many people still play this game? Or are the servers mostly dead?

CS 1.6 is still the most popular online FPS game, with CS:Source following it with roughly a third of the players. So yes, there are still shedloads of servers out there.

Yup, loadsssssss of CS/CS:S servers up. I took a quick look at the Steam status website, and found the following stats:

    Game: Counter-Strike
    Current Players: 88,722
    Current Servers: 51,041

    Game: Counter-Strike: Source
    Current Players: 44,168
    Current Servers: 29,717

Its ironic really as CS1.6 was the worst of the pre-source versions of CounterStrike and many many players quit because of it.

    Its as popular as ever.

If you are into teamwork, playing objectives and not just deathatch try the TG servers.

By far the best servers i have played on, if you are into that style of play of course.
