I might get the 5770 to replace my 4850. Seems like a reasonable side-step/sort of upgrade. :p I like the idle power usage and consumption is a big deal for me in my house.

Edit - Anandtech has the 4850 idle temps at 62 degrees? Mine has always said around 40 degrees in GPU-Z. Either I'm wrong or they're wrong.

Stock cooler on the 4850's (single slot effort) used to idle in the 60's and load in the high 80's.

They were rubbish. The 3rd party cooled ones were much better.

but what happens if you want to play DX11 games? i will sacrifice a small disadvantage in performance/power consumption to play dx11 games. If a card can play all dx10 dx11 games on reasonably high settings its a good card. If it can only play dx10 i see no point :( ( my opinion )

DX11 is pointless on this card, it will be dog slow and you will have to resort to playing the game in DX10/10.1 ;)

You do not know that until benches of DX11 are shown & under condition of Battleforge where the use of Dx11 is for efficiency purposes instead of adding more candy, the card should be faster in DX11 than it is in DX10&10.1 under those circumstances.

I was talking about the 57X0 in my post. Right now the 4890 is the better purchase, but when the 5770 gets down to £100ish on a TWO deal, I would snap up a couple for some low power CF funtimes.

Hey dudes,

Seems like both the 5750 and 5770 need an additional PEG power connector :( just wondering if anyone has seen, or heard of, any low power versions that don't need this.

Cheers,

before VAT and not accounting for 5%(veriable) american sales tax or the fact that many stores in america sell below RRP these cards retail for £80ish & £100ish

I hate this country. Deeply.

Look OK, I'm disappointed they aren't quicker. Been waiting a long time for these only to find they're not really any faster than my GTS250 which is years old tech...

I'll wait and see if Gigabyte launch a Silent Cell version of the 5770. I'd probably get that if they do...

Just wait a couple of months and hopefully the 5850 will be down to ~£150

exactly this - agree 100%- its like a 9500gt with 1gb of memory

it will be slow gddr2 fail but some noob will buy it because they thing 1gb is good for a sub £50 gpu

when in actual fact it will just be a sack of fail

DX11 on a sub £200 card will be the same as DX10 was on any card except the 8800GTX when that came out

DX11 on a subb £200 besides games is there for other features & compatibility is nothing like the 1GB on a 9500 which will serve no useful purpose & if have not seen the link i posted it is faster in DX11 than in DX10 which would leave the only logical conclusion is that the card should only support DX9 which would really help the platform move forwards feature wise.
