audi < BMW

as i said earlier audi are just jumped up VW's and god knows what the S cars are  and the S4 is no competitor to the M3 Topgear should be taken with a very small pinch of salt.

Try the RS4 as the M3 beater. The S4 had some inherant faults due to its design (engine mounted too far forward, v8 lacked grunt) which were corrected in the RS4 and the 420BHP 4.2 N/A V8 is an amazing engine.

Pah! Fancy pulling Beemers with such a piece of crap!
Mercedes may well bring the driving pleasure, I would'nt describe driving one anything like!

For me, Audi or BMW would'nt get a look in compared to this.

Now THATS the "Ultimate Driving Machine" in my eyes. ;)

7:50 --- 157.787 km/h -- BMW E46 M3 CSL, 360 PS/1421 kg (sport auto 08/03

thats the fastest beemer...

7:58 --- 156.652 km/h -- Audi RS4 4.2 V8 FSI, 420 PS/ 1650 kg, Frank Stippler, (10/05)...

so what does the ring prove? nowt cos the conditions change daily, drivers also change...but ghee's that RS4 could do with shedding some KG's!

Also I think it was TG702 it was mentioned the RS4's lap time was 1:25.7
Just checked. They said it did it in 1:25.something but also said it was "over a second quicker than the Cayman", which did it in 1.26.7, so it's between 1:25.0 and 1:25.6 :)

I know that it's a flawed comparison but I was just chucking it back in stig's face tbh to illustrate that anyone can produce pointless and irrelevant figures to back up their claims :)

M6: 1761kg
M5: 1844kg
M3: 1584kg
E39 M5: 1833kg

Even the F430 weighs 1493kg and the 996 Turbo 1569kg.

It is the niice, extremly heavy dash that equates to a big chunk of that. ;)

(Slightly pointless post, as I already shown my opinion with out driving all of them.)

I'm actually quite surprised that most people seem to be voting for Audi over the BMW (I agree with them though). I thought the BMW would win as most people seem to prefer them (part of the reason I don't).

Right, so your entire arguement in a thread entitled AUDI OR BMW Is that they are dull becuase they are not Caterhams?

Seriously, do you have any idea how irrelevant your point is? You'll find the back button in the top left hand side of your browser window. Thanks.
Radical?!?!? Well Fox has already beaten me to pointing out how irrelevant your alternatives are so I'll just quote for agreement.

Imagine an M3 CSL with 420PS  Thats - quite literally as my name tag shows - truck power output!

I've seen,somewhere, an M3 / CSL with the e39 M5 V8 - 400ps its quite a machine, can I find the link though..... :o :(

The only current model BMW I'd consider owning is the X5 - simply because it's not as fugly as the rest of their range.

For that reason alone Audi is the defacto winner for me.

not bias or anything are you? little cornor? what planet are you on? these are 2 fantastically performing marques who are competing tet-a-tet, providing stimulation for each other, and diversity for the consumer...

im not sure from which rock you have crawled from under, but sheesh i hope no others escaped.

We shall have to see. The RS4 has proved to be a lot better than anyone thought it would be.

At this moment in time, it would probably be Audi for me.

The new RS4 is just so

And Stig, we've heard what you think about 30 billion times, no need to bleat on about because someone doesn't agree with you...
