all im trying to say is if a company is charging a premium price the least they can do is check the car for this type of thing to the extend that they are sure it wont go wrong within a matter of months. hardly much to ask now is it

not much to ask you say? what do you feel they could have reasonably done to be sure it wont go wrong in a few months?

how many months would it have needed to be before it wasnt too soon in your opinion?

Faithyboy, even BRAND NEW CARS can go wrong, yes they are covered with a standard 3 year warranty as you'd expect, but a used car is equally as likely to go wrong, if you were concerned, then surely the onus is on you to make sure that you have the car covered by warranty after the 3 months that you got with it expired. There are plenty of 3rd party warranty services available, and if you're going to spend £15-£20k on a used car that cost £35/40k then it's going to have the running costs related to a £35/£40k car, it's wise to make sure you have a decent warranty for it once the 3 months courtesy warranty expired!
