Right peeps need some advice / suggestions! Dont often show my face in this section but am just about to spend some money! Stuff i have: Gale Gold monitors - Front Acoustic Solutions bookshelf - Rear Pioneer active - Sub Stuff to buy Eltax centre AMP???? I need some suggestions on which am to purchase!!! Im realy on a budget of £200 very most, ideally £150. What can people suggest i get to power the above, im really not fussy at all tbh, so long as it has at least 1 optical in, although 2 would be nice! What can you reccommend peeps? Andy
I would go 2nd hand for that budget mate. Just had a look at the avforums and found this: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=289119 I used to have this amp and loved it. It handled music very nicely and movies very well. The only thing that bugged me about it slightly was that it seemed as if the centre channel was slightly muffled?? although that might have been my imagination. The only reason I sold it is that it only had 1 optical input (also has 2 coaxial too tho) and I needed somethign that could do component switching. It lacks pl2 but has the standard pro-logic that is basically the same IMO but only gives one rear channel from a stereo source, not 2 like pl2. This guy is asking for £150. I sold mine a year or so ago, to a mate, for about £100. The current equivalent model costs about £500.
Yeah been scouting there. Just wouldnt like to get a fault on it etc i like having a warranty thats all. Best get signed up to AV and keep my eyes open Cheers Andy
The 357 is a pretty good amp for movies. Obviously, you'd get a better amp with a higher budget but I've found it to be an excellent performer for the price. Watched Wyatt Earp on DVD yesterday and the amp sounded sweet as bullets whistled past my head!
Bah not for this one mate, needs to have a nice warranty for it Althou the last second hand one i bought is going strong Andy
357 is a fantastic piece of kit. Tried sooo hard to get my mate to buy one, would have been perfect for his needs but he "needed one with the automatic set-up mic" Available on the highstreet for £130 too which is a steal considering the quality of it.
Some one might have something in the members market, AVForums has a MM too and theres also hififorsale.com MB
Very nice. In your position i'd have probably gone for a Yamaha AV57 pack which seem to be in stock then sold on the speakers as a set and keep the 357 to use with your own speakers. Having said that i'm sure you'll be dead chuffed with the Denon
Yeah thought about that, but read some good stuff about the Denon and it has a nice extended warranty Will update after the weekend when its set up Andy
