Backing Up My I-tunes Music And Playlist ?

Going to be doing a complete format on my PC and need to back up all the songs (I bought off I-tunes) and my playlists.

It has taken me ages to get them how I want them and don't really want to lose it all.

Is there any easy way

just save your music files on a CD/another hard disk - when you put them in itunes again (after reinstalling everything) it will ask you for your account details and all the mp3's will be verified.

For your playlists you just need to export the data. Just right click on each playlist and select export - save all the files, then after reinstall just import the playlists.

If you want to save all your ratings, just make 5 playlists - 1 for 5 star, 1 for 4 star etc. Then reimport the playlists into the new itunes and rate all the songs by playlist.
