Bass guitar tabs

    hi there, i've just looked at some bass guitar tabs online and have been trying out a few but none of them have explained what p, h, and r stand for

    hopefully one you shuld be able to shed some light but please bare in mind i'm new to guitar playing so a dummies guide would be nice

    p = pull off
    h = hammer on
    r = not the slightest

    edit: unless it means let ring?

    This is for guitar, I assume it's the same for bass.

    r= release bend

    thanks for the replies but what do you actually do when you "hammer on" or "pull off"
