Isnt that just for a CD key ? If so you would need to "aquire" Batman somehow.

Some games on Steam allow the key from a retail version to be applied so that you can download from there. Does anyone know if that applies to Batman AA?

As far as I know that only applies to Valve games, but I'd loved to be proven otherwise.

Definitely works for other titles, but they are selected. I don't know of a list that shows supporting titles... only way to check is to look on Steam I imagine..

    Edit: that site displays

No Steam: The key cannot be activated via Steam but only through the game integrated multiplayer.

    Consider yourself "Proven" ;)

Batman: AA is not one of them though.

Although the key is cheap, I see no benefit of buying it.

The key does not entitle you to a digital download meaning you can only use the warez exe's? Right or wrong?

Fair enough, I was incorrect on this occasion. ;)
