She said she was too ashamed to tell her family what had happened, adding it left her "feeling violated, dirty and sick" and needing counselling after she found out what he had done.

LOL what a joke. :D

I wonder how many here would have the same opinions if it were themselves or a someone they knew that were being filmed without their knowledge ?

Caveat emptor? Like most sharing of information in relationships?

Of course, I'd be annoyed if they were distributed, but that didn't happen in this case until the current GF decided to do it.

What makes information sharing in the bedroom different to information sharing in other aspects of the relationship?

What he did was unacceptable although I can think of other people more worthy of cell space and a place on the SOR.

And that is the crux of the matter.

Whats the difference between recording for personal use and having a perfect memory? Surely that counts as discrimination against the memory inpaired. I'm actually kind of half serious there, it really doens't sound fair.

The only person who should be seriously punished here is the girlfriend

I accept your points Dolph but the chap did secretly record himself and five other women without their consent. That is how the whole thing started and the law says ( rightly or wrongly ) that is voyeurism.

At the end of the day, he has no legal defence at all in making the tapes whether they are for his own use and privately and securely stored or not.

That said, do I think he warrants 8 months and 10 years on the SOR ? No I don't.

It's true, the issue lies with the law, not with this particular case, and yet more removal of personal responsibility (which could indeed be reflective of the old sexist attitude of women need protecting) from relationships.

This should be a civil, not a criminal matter.

Fair point actually. The materials were never distributed, filming without consent is wrong but doesn't warrant 10 years on the SOR.

The fact he then kept those videos to himself. yes. wierd, but doesn't deserve 8 months sentance and 10 years on a sex offenders register...aka jobless for 10 years!? :S

weired? how so? surely more weired to want to watch a porn video with some random dood poking a chick..

The mans a creap, his girl friend that dropped him in it was rightly mad and did nothing wrong. The women that he filmed could be publicly known and had their life ruined if them tapes had got onto YouTube or its likes. They were right to put him on the SOR and lock him up. As for the materials never being distributed what if his girl friend that found them had of stuck them on YouTube?

Is it illegal to record having sex with someone?

One of my very old flat mates used to record him and his different girlfriends doing this and that all the time LOL he even showed me some bits. He said that some of the girls were aware of the recording but didn't really care as all they wanted was to have some fun!
