I'm looking for advice really on the best piece of software to try to keep track of my money better - bank accounts, mortgage stuff etc etc

I'm really looking for something that I can keep updated with info from my internet banking, try to plan payments and keep track of what i'm spending on fuel, food etc etc.

What does everyone use?

I have used ms money many moons ago, which was quite good. Even a good spreadsheet would be good I guess!

any advice welcomed :)

You can't beat making your own spreadsheet. You can organise things how you want and get summaries which tell you what you need. It's always going to be different from person to person, just spend some time and make one :)

I use MS Money and would still rate it. You can sync against downloads from Internet banking, although this is not flawless.

I expect you can get it cheap somewhere as it hasn't been updated for a while.

The latest version of Quicken is generally regarded as pants!
