Whats the best ram heatsink out there? Looking to pay around £30 for a set of 4 for my 4 sticks of ram.

    Thanks

note* My CPU cooler is quite close to my ram modules...

There's no point in the metal heatspreaders, they are a branding gimmick and actually heat the RAM up more. You could use a fan attachment to blow air over the RAM. There's also the Antec Spotcool which you could attach to somewhere in your case. Failing that you could tie wrap an 80mm fan to them.

They're pointless alright, but i really don't think they heat up the RAM. What they do is increase the surface area allowing heat to dissipate more easily into the air. So it does help, it's just not required, considering RAM now is far more efficient and runs at lower voltages than it did in the past, and they never needed heatsinks.

It's a solution to a problem that never existed. Has helped with aesthetics though ;)

No need really mate- why dissipate more heat into the case?

Fair enough guys, i'll have to see what my temps are when i get my new case. Hopefully should keep it much cooler but we'll see how it goes.
