I am a fan of notepad when creating PHP, HTML etc... Just wondering if there is a better text editor about?

I've been using Notepad++ for a while now. I've tried many others but have'nt found any that comes close.
Favourite features include tabbed notes (like firefox, many text editors do this), split panels, makes it easy to compare two files and a function list. There is also an executable on the website along with instructions on how to replace windows notepad as the default.

edit: oh yeah its free :)
