Bluehost Sitelock Scam

I've just had a fun 2 hours...

Got an email from Bluehost saying that there might be malware on my site so they have suspended it. I actually have multiple sites, so there are hundreds of files on the list.

They're all crappy personal Wordpress sites. Up to date. Nothing special.

Not to worry - my phone rings and it's their security people. They can roll it all back and patch the problem. They said I need a "dedicated firewall package" and offered SiteLock. Only $300 if I pay now.

Of course, I told them they were having a laugh. Checked with some friends who know their onions who agreed it was a cheeky upsell.

I've a year left on my hosting with them, but I want to migrate away. The company has been a shambles lately.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing?

Sitelock is/was part-owned by the CEO of the company that owns Bluehost, I believe....

However it's not exactly a scam if there is indeed malware on the account, they will usually save the report in your home directory which you can review.
