I mean, the 330d etc is only going to be about 10 at best MPG better off, isn't diesel going to get more expensive as well with duty or am I making that up?

It's probably more than 10, i did 200 miles yesterday in my 530d and managed 54mpg. Whole tank was just under 700 miles and 47.8mpg.

Yeah I am now realising it's a silly idea.

Have you drive an F30 330D ?

I've got an F31 330d with the superb 8 speed auto. I do about 90 miles a day for my commute and then plenty of local driving outside of that.

My current average is 45mpg, and I don't drive stupidly slow.

The 330d is a great car from a performance and economy aspect. I've done 10k in mine since mid November and it's been a good experience. I think I'd quite like the extra performance a 335d would offer, but I imagine the MPPK wouldn't leave me far behind that.

It's a good car.

To drive a M135i to get 35 you are going to get well past 55 in a diesel
I disagree. I drive my M135i exactly the same way as I drove my E91 320d. My lifetime average (over ~55k miles) in the M135i is 34.3mpg, and in the 320d (over ~95k miles) it was 53.2mpg. The M135i regularly cracks 40mpg, door to door, on a typical 70mph (cruise controlled) motorway journey.

More recently I've been running exclusively on premium unleaded (either BP or Shell) and I've seen the average fuel economy, tank by tank, go up about 7-8%.

F10 530d LCI with only 13k on the clock. It's such a fantastic car to drive. Effortless, relaxing, fantastic HK audio, it shifts, comfy. Can't wait to pick it up. It'll be a nice change from the Focus!

Am I right in saying that switching to Pilot Sport 4 when the Bridgestone run flats need changing is a good idea?

Also the dealer have offered me Gap insurance for £299, is this worth taking out?

There was something else, but I can't remember.

Nice, no.....very nice.

Got my 520d for another year then I'm considering a 535/530. Where do you all think it will end with this Diesel tax thing that is quite prevalent in the news just now, would it put anyone off buying a Diesel or not?

Gap insurance is a good idea, try a quote on ala.co.uk for a comparison to the price the dealer has given you.
Very nice ride btw!
Thanks and thanks. £143 on ala!

It will certainly be different to the Focus and DC5!

Can I retrofit a towing hook? Could tow the Integra with this.

Test drove a 430d x-drive today.

Initial thoughts compared to my 2.0 TDI A6...

Felt small (duh)
Steering felt heavier and more responsive
Initially felt quite slow in comfort mode, really enjoyed the increased performance in sport mode. Felt very quick and totally effortless on acceleration

All in all a lovely drive and cemented me wanting to move up to a 6 cylinder engine. Want to drive 435/440i (RWD) and 435d xdrive if possible to make a decision on which would be the sweet spot for me.

There's no increased performance in sport mode vs comfort mode, but the throttle pedal position mapping is totally changed which can make it feel much faster. In reality the throttle pedal is just "longer" in confort mode, which can actually make it much easier to control throttle input because in sport mode a small input has a big effect.
