I currently only have a 512kbps connection speed due to been on a DACS line and also we are 5.75km from the exchange. If I wasnt on a DACS line could I expect a faster connection speed? Also I thought you could get upto 2mbps upto 6km from an exchange, could someone help clarify this. Riever
You can't have DACS on the line your ADSL comes down - ADSL needs a dedicated pair back to the exchange. Distance isn't really the important thing when it comes to what speed you can get. Do you know what attenuation and SNR you're getting? That said, at 6Km I would expect 2MBit to be very unlikely.
6 km would be about a 60dB attenuation (if not more) - doubt you'd ever see an SNR margin high enough to sustain 2Mbps.
