Hi guys, my old man has asked me to build him a 4k pc which he will largely use for photo editing. Due to lack of money and an excess of children it's been a while since I've built a pc. I put a spec together below but I'm unsure of whether it will suit his needs.
Intel Core i5-6400 2.70GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - £150.95
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C14 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black - £89.99
Sapphire Radeon R7 250X Vapor-X 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £69.95
Kingston 240GB SSDNow V300 Drive SATA 6Gb/s 3 2.5" (7mm height) Solid State Hard Drive - £62.99
Corsair Builder Series CX 600W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020048-UK) - £57.95
Asus H110M-A Intel H110 (Socket 1151) DDR4 Micro ATX Motherboard - £51.95
Antec VSK4000B Midi-Tower Case - Black - £23.99
Total : £517.36
So, shall I go with the Skylake Cpu or stick with a Haswell? I though it would be good so I could put DDR4 in but would I be better with a higher frequency DDR3? I wondered if it was the best route as my Dad wants to retire in a couple of years so wants something that will last and he can use for a few years and only have to upgrade certain bits rather than a complete overhaul in a couple of years. His budget is around £500-600. Also this is just for the Pc, he said he would sort the monitor.
Thanks,
