Hi my son is trusting me to build him a pc with his birthday and xmas money.

Budget about £800 but dont want to waste his money so am here for advice.

Here is what I am thinking any input would be great

Case gamemax F15m or kamikaze pro
cpu ryzen 3600
ram 16gb 3600Mhz 2x8
cooler esports duo
main drive ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB M.2
second drive Crucial MX500 512gb
M/B b550
psu undecided but thinking 550 up

dont envisage any overclocking at all.

Why do you need two separate SSD's?

What GPU are you considering?

What will the rig be used for?

There's new AMD processors launching soon so you might be better off waiting, if the rig is purely for gaming you'll get more bang for your buck with the upcoming PS5 and Xbox consoles in honesty.

sorry gpu rtx 2060
it wont be purely gaming , and he does prefer gaming on a pc even though the one he is using now really is showing its age,
will wait and see what prices new of cpu are but i suspect they will creap out of budget

That’s similar to the build I’m planning for my son.
Just waiting to see what CPU’s AMD launch next month and hoping NVIDiA get the RTX 3060 launched and available in time for Christmas. Otherwise it will be a 3600 and an RTX 2060.

in terms of MB - I don’t think the B550 boards are worth spending extra on, if you’re going 3600.

they all have the rgb headers on handle the faster memory and possibly better upgrade options in the future, well that was my thinking anyway
