that one should be fine Deramcaster.

I've allways used Linksys routers for my NTL/Virgin cable and had no problems with them, they would get my vote every time personaly.

I have a WRT54GL with Tomato 1.06 firmware on!

Great coverage all over my house and garden :)

Only ever used Linksys while I been on NTL cable and thats been for the last 6 years and I haven't got a bad thing to say about them tbh

WRT54GL & a 3rd party firmware such as DDWRT if you want/need it. The friendly side of a ton it's hard to beat without a dedicated linux router distro. You do not want a Set Top Box (STB or 'V Box') modem (they tend not to push them in sales much unless you ask for it to be activated instead of a standard modem). Basically if it's built into your STB and it goes belly up you loose two devices as welll as the speed the inbuilt modems can handle being significantly lower than the externals (external is good to circa 38mbit)
