Is the shelf life on a Cambelt the date before it must be used on the car or is this the date after which it should not be used at all?
As above , it's probably the manufacture date. What's the date out if interest? I doubt its a use by or indeed sell by date.
Date is 05/14 Is still in the box with the full kit. Planning on getting it put on next week. It's a genuine GM Cambelt kit.
Called a Vauxhall dealer who confirmed that the date on the packaging is the date they need to sell the belt by. It's perfectly fine to put on the car.
My Micra handbook said to change the belts (not the cambelt as it is a chain) every 5 years and I changed them at somewhere between 8-9 years. Fit the belt then come 2015 have a look to see how it is.
if i remember rightly that would stand for the 5th day in the 14th week of the year. dont hold me to it though its been a while since ive stepped foot in a garage its definatly the date of manufacture
