Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my screen?

I purchased a laptop from PC Specialist a while back and to cut a long story short once I upgraded to Win10 some how the displays EDID got corrupted. As the laptop was still under warranty I sent it back in a hope they would contact the manufacture and re-flash the EDID.

They said no and emailed me saying that "to do that was like getting blood out of a stone" I'll have to buy a new display as my warranty only covered parts. I caved and they paid to replaced the screen. Previously the laptop was crystal clear but now it is like this:

What's this, is it extreme black-light bleed?

And again...

Then after:

I'm in the process of returning it but they've mentioned that I may have to pay again and I just want as much information on this as possible. Thanks for any help in advance.

Not sure I understand. If warranty covers parts then that covers a new screen. Why did you have to pay for a new display ? Should have just been labour. In any case the repair is sub par so you are covered by Sales of Good act (if bought before Oct 2015) and Consumer Goods Act (if bought post Oct 2015). You shouldnt have to pay again especially as you have a before and after picture of proof.
