Catalina upgrade causing nsurlsessiond cpu hog HELP!

Mid week, I had to update my early 2015 mbp from High Sierra to Catalina and since then I've been plagued by a process called 'nsurlsessiond' and to a lesser degree one called 'trustd' Both processes are constantly on and driving the cpu hard at 40% to 60%. It made my once beautiful and silent machine become a whirring menace and is causing much annoyance and worry.

For the love of all that is sane, is there someone that might know what is causing this? I've spent hours (and hours!) now researching the issue and all that seems to come back is it's something to do with iCloud. Yet I've totally signed out of iCloud. I've reset memory settings and stuff like that and also tried to clear off all Abobe applications, which is hell on earth.

Please, can any Apple masters help?
