If you are a top team you will get out of any group. If you can’t beat the group stage you were never going to win it.

Exactly. It is much more a testament to growing as a club playing the big boys than having an easy group. I'd rather go out in the group into Europa after playing decent teams than playing rubbish teams. Then getting blown out of the water in the last 16.

Well they beat Spurs and Atletico without Werner and that was before even getting a replacement.
They're still a very good team that will cause most sides problems but losing Werner is a blow. They've always been a side that's better than the sum of it's parts however Werner was the one genuinely top class attacking player they had. Without him you can see them playing a lot of good football and dominating games but not turning that into wins as much as before. You only have to look at the Brighton game at the weekend to see the difference good finishing has on results - if Brighton replicate that performance another 10 times they might win 5 or 6 times but if you stick a better striker in their side they'd win it 9 times out of 10.

We got the easier draw compared to the others in my view, Ajax could be tricky but I'd expect results from rest of teams
We've got pretty much the easiest draw we could have hoped for. We've avoided all the difficult sides from each pot and all the long journeys too. If you were being really picky you might have hoped for Salzburg over Atalanta now that they've lost Minamino, Haaland and one or two others but who knows who they've got coming through now.

UEFA have given the green light for home supporters to attend all matches, up to 30% of capacity, subject to local laws. With a few European Leagues already having some supporters back and plans for more, PL sides are going to be disadvantaged with little prospect of them being allowed any supporters in during the group stage games.

Atalanta are going to be a lot tougher than Ajax. They only lost to PSG in the last 8 because of two injury time goals last season.

They've also started Seria A very well and have scored 4 goals in two games, one of those being away to Lazio.

Yet we can congregate in pubs and restaurants. Bloody stupid. It doesn’t have to be 30% either. It could be 10%. At Anfield that’s about 5400 fans. A very easy number to social distance control in a 54000 seater.

Mind you, if Utd do go out at group stage, that could mean there’s a great chance of getting Arsenal, Spurs, Utd and Leicester all in the KO stages of the Europa. Got to have a great chance of a winner from that lot.

Atalanta - Liverpool should be a great game!

Juventus + Barca in the same should be fun too, decent groups that.

The draw everyone really cares about is tomorrow :)

It was the Europa draw today. Baz forgot to put it in the title as every fan of teams in the champions league seem to forget the Europa exists.

Anyway, if Arteta can’t get us out of our group, he wants sacking on the spot. Rapid Vienna, Molde and Dundalk. It surely can’t get any easier. Spurs got an easy group too, although I think Leicester could have had it easier.
