Changing car tax from disabled to none disabled.

just a bit of help please.

my mother passed away few weeks ago.
previously my car was taxed via her (free) - (car is in my name)
my car tax is due end of month (May).

12 months ago when i first taxed the car i had not driven for 19 years
so i am kind of out the loop with what to do when actually paying.

obviously i take payment to the post office but this is what i suspect i should take also:

car tax reminder letter / V5 document / valid MOT.

anything else?

I’m slightly confused, the car is in your name, but registered against your mother’s disability/ilness to place it into the free taxation class?

If the car is currently registered for free taxation then it needs changing. I’d imagine it is doable online these days, but when I had to do the same for my late Father’s car back in 2008 I had to go to the local DVLA office (remember those!).

Sorry about your mum. You should be able to do this online.

Can confirm that changing the other way round ie: going from PLG to Disabled can't be done online and since the closure of local DVLA offices is only possible at the PO.
