Changing Movie Aspect Ratio in imovie

I am a total novice when it comes to this but,

I am trying to change the aspect ratio of an imovie to be like a phone screen.

I am uploading a video to tiktok and its a series of photographs from a point and shoot. I want to make it so the user rotates their phone 90 degrees so the picture covers the whole screen rather than just a part of it when vertical due to the aspect ratio.

Is there any way to do this?

First you need to make you iMovie project portrait with a 9x16 display ratio e.g. 1080x1920.

With the images then on your timeline you can zoom them in to make them fill the entire screen but you will lose the left and right sides of the image but you could be creative and use keyframes to pan across and zoom to different bits of the image if you want to.
