I have a HP DVD840i 16x16 DVD RW Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter
and...well I have DVDs that I got from america and I changed the region that one two many times and its stuck on america rather than UK/Japan.

Is there anyway to over ride this firware program so I can get back the UK region setting. I dont wana have to buy another DVD drive for UK and leave the lightscribe as USA. :(

If I write DVD with a drive thats set to the USA region does that mean it will write them in USA format or is it only set to read USA format DVDs?

Head on over to CDfreaks - they will sort you out with some good programs to use. Some of the popular ones include DVDRegionFree as above and AnyDVD too.
