unless your friend specifically wants an Nvidia card swap the 470 out for an ati 4870, they're better cards and cheaper.

Dual channel memory kit is what you want.

Triples are for i7, unless you think that CPU will fit that motherboard?

I would recommend waiting for the Hex Core AMD which is out in the next couple of weeks.

Nice spec, though wrong ram... you need 2x2gb i would go for 1600mhz in case you plan to overclock, What cpu cooler are you going for?

Thanks for the help, Especially with the Ram side of things. Ill have a look into it down here and let him now ive changed some stuff on the list.

As for a CPU cooler its the Noctua NH-D14, Its the same brand although bigger and a different design to the one i have so i thought id go with that.

Unless there is a major Difference with the ATI graphics card the Nvidia would be preferred, So shoot away with major Differences :p

One problem with the noctua cooler is its size, it needs to clear the tops of the ram and surrounding components.

This only issue with the nvidia cards is that they cost on average £100 more than the ati card that they compete against in benchmarks.

You could just stick with the Titan it really is a great cooler and cost less and takes up less room.

Agree with the use of a HD5870, the Nvidia 470 but performs as well as the HD5850 for the most part and a 100 quid more! People saying the 5800 series are expensive just have to look at the 470/480 prices to realise the bargin they are getting.

I think the ati cards are well priced. I remeber paying about £120 for my 8600GT and it couldnt do what the 5770 does at its time. And Nvidia is usually more expensive the ati but normally theres a increase in performace but now its not even worth it tbh like 3 more frames for like £100+. He could be fine with a 5850 and just overclock it to 5870 speed.
