Will buy blindly but......

The step from 3 to 4 was a sidegrade i thought. Graphically superior but i felt it lost something in 4, i hope 5 is a perfect mix of 3-4 but with new elements too.

4 felt quite bare when it was first released but there were huge improvements with BTS and the patches. In it's final state, the civ4 AI is actually pretty good and can do some very sneaky and human-like stuff. Much better than what the AI in 3 were capable of.

Will also buy blindly....

This :) Drove me absolutely bonkers when losing to such a low technology unit.
Your M1 Abrams attacks mounted cavalry and loses! ARGHHHH

When you are relying on random numbers to resolve battles then anything can happen, after all Civ is famous for the spearman beating a battleship and the spearman beating a tank was so common there is a smiley for it :D

I really disliked the wild animals in CivIV. They were there to stop the human sending out unescorted settlers, but although they weren't supposed to be a threat to actual fighting units I lost no end of units to them

Can't wait...wish they'd bringback Elvis and the throne room from Civ II though.

Agreed. The throne room and advisors were awesome.

It would be cool if there was a huge variety in the throne room, and that in each game you played it would be developed based on the strategy and gameplay that you use.

YOU MISSED TWO!?!?!?!?!?!

Its the second best one (best being 4) as it had the best movies and things to add character (the rules didnt always make sense though)

On to civ 5, im genuinely a little upset that my girl friends birthday is the day after this is out so I wont get to play it for a few days after its out... :( On the plus, I really like the idea's behind the hexagonal tiles, reverting back to one unit a tile (to the extreme of one no matter what civ this time) and the mini city states thing. I think the city states thing will fill the problem of when you get landed with only 3 or 4 big civs in an area and diplomacy became very predictable....

Haha, totally excellent ad :D Love Sid himself being the cleaner :o This would be a day 0 buy for me, but my birthday is a few days after the 21st so I will see if the missus will preorder it through steam for me :D (As opposed to me buying it myself)

I used to love the throne room and how it advanced as time went by. And I agree it would be great to have it back...

As long as they don't do what they did in Caesar IV and have a crowded multitude of bodies all too specific for any of them to be of use!

When I play a civilization game, I always take the suggested research option because a part of me knows the computer has a better idea of how to win.

Im almost frightened of not taking the suggested option, is this why I get owned online?

Yes, the computer is a moron.

Basically you have a better idea what your plan to win is and you should aim for it and not get distracted. You do have a plan to win, don't you?

You aren't one of those people who run with automated workers as well, are you?

It'll be interesting to see how quickly the Mods come out, I know that one of the Big Civ IV mods , Rise of Mankind/A new dawn is already in development for Civ V
