Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a little advice regarding hardware upgrades; my current setup is as follows:

Mainboard: ASUS ROG Maximus VI Extreme

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770k @ 3.5GHz

RAM: 16GB DDR3

GPU: ROG STRIX GTX 970

I'm looking at investing in some new components, mainly the GPU, as I've never had issues with any of the other hardware, however, I'm aware my processor and mainboard are quite old, only being 4th gen quad core.

I've had my eye on an RTX2080Ti.

Should I be looking at upgrading anything else first before I consider upgrading my GPU to something as recent as a 2080Ti?

When I look at system requirements for games, like the soon-to-be-released Cyberpunk 2077, I meet the recommended spec with the exception of GPU, and this tends to be the case with most games, i trend to use systemrequirementslab for checking compatibility with games.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard.

Don't worry about CPU not having work... After upgrading GPU that CPU will be hammered by heavy games.
Unless you're using 60Hz monitor.
And 2080 Ti was rape&robbery overpiced for performance originally.
Now it's that's doubled with new more powerfull GPUs at half the price.

In fact no well past £500 GPU makes sense unless you have there at least 2560x1440 monitor.

Also what PSU you have?
Unless it was high quality PSU it would be time to replace it.
(instead of possibly risking new expensive parts)
