Hello chaps

Could anybody tell me whether this card:

Plugs into a standard PCI slot?

as a standard pci-x cards will fit in a pci slot and will work in most cases however it will limit the speed of the raid card.

Is there any reason for specifically looking at the Adaptec card? If you just want a plain 4 port PCI SATA card then there are plenty of generic ones available at auction for significantly less than the Adaptec one.

Cheers chaps, reading further reveals Sata 150 speeds through a standard PCI slot, it's the RAID I was particularly looking for as it's for an older machine (Yet another Shuttle I have acquired for my growing collection).

Indeed, I am a bit of a snob and prefer branded, well engineered hardware with good support.

I thought I may test one of the cheap ones to see if it works OK and then upgrade to the Adaptec in a couple of weeks time.
