Can anyone help with this little(?) problem?

I'm running a dual boot system - WinXP Pro & Vista 64 Ultimate (64bit) with XP as the primary system. Dual booting is managed by VistaBoot Pro.

Yesterday I'd burnt a "Mandriva Spring 08" disc for use on another system and had rebooted my main machine for some reason forgetting about the Mandriva disc still in the drive.

As the machine is set to boot from the CD by default and I had my back turned for 10 mins - I came back to a BSD. Win XP will BSD on boot now although I can get into Vista - no problem.

While in Vista I can see the XP partition & files etc (they simply swap drive letters C / D depending which is active). I imagine I've corrupted an "*.ini" file or even the MBR. Problem is - I'd be the first to admit I'm a bit "fuzzy" when it comes to these basic files and not really sure what to do - apart from sending out a distress call to the good people of the OCUK furum!

Can anyone help?

BTW booting into safe mode and / or "last known good configuration" didn't help.
