I was visiting my usual haunts over the last few days (now i have some free time) and saw some hype about Playboy entering eSports!
I kinda dismissed it as a rumour but seems things are happening!

While I don't share his contempt, I still agree with him. eSports isn't a sport. I will never consider LAN parties or computer games a sport.

It is physical prowess that is competitive, is it not?

Its a sport in its own right, just like how Darts and Snooker is. You just need to process a different skill set.

Not sure I would go that far, I would put it on a par with extreme sports (which generally are not competitive yet are called sports )

Sports don't have to be competitive

I would say it does (in the majority, i'm sure plenty of people will come up with some examples where it doesnt). Football is a sport, kicking a ball around with no 'goal' or competition is just a leisure activity.

Running is not a sport unless it is competitive imo.
