DDR2 vs DDR3?

As CAT says, your processor only supports DDR2. Also, the performance increase from DDR3 is so close to nothing in real world use as doesn't matter.
You don't need any upgrade at all.

well its good to know, I had this itch to get some ddr3 but no need now, rather spend the money on a new psu.
