Hi guys,

My 2 year old 2.4ghz dimension 2400 is starting to get a bit tired so I am thinking of treating it to a new case and quiet psu and then relegating it to server activities.

However I have heard that the motherboards and PSUs for the Dimensions and Dell PCs in general are not standard to cut costs and hence won't fit in an ATX case. Does anybody know if this is true? Google isn't really coming up with any good answers.

If it is I'll have to shell out for a new mobo and PSU and case something I dont want to do if it's going to cause this much hassle.

Any help would be great! :D

Thanks,

Matt

I remember being unable to upgrade the PSU for a Dimension 8200 a while back.

Dell use proprietary components - even if you were able to fit a standard PSU in the case (you'd need a jigsaw :) ) you'd probably fry the Dell mobo.
