After 10 years my Logitech Z5500 are making some really annoying crackle and pops. Have checked all the connections, think it may be the power supplier failing...

I'm a bit of an audiophile with a separates AV system. Looking to replace with computer audio something that works well for music and gaming budget is around £240.

I like having 5.1 surround for gaming but would rather not compromise too much on music audio. Think a 2.0 system will probably be best for music so long as still has a reasonable bass output.

Narrowed it down to these:
  • Edifier R1700BT 2.0 Studio £130
  • Steljes Audio NS3 2.0 £220 (WhatHiFi recommended)
  • Logitech Z906 5.1 £270 (basically same as my the z5500's)
  • Edifier S760D 5.1 £500 (looks good but too big & expensive)
Any thoughts?

Audio Pro T8L

But TBH, anything that doesn't say "Logitech" on it will sound 10 times better than anmy Logitech speakers

Logitech Z906 are good for what they are "multimedia speakers not audiophile grade), but your model are said to sound better so are the even older model (I cannot remember model).

I own them but advise anyone to only buy them on deals like Prime Day or Black Friday but that price is pretty good as normally well over £300 as you can no doubt see if you look somewhere where there is about £100 off so £260

Yea that was them, like nearly all these system inc the Z680, Z5500 and earlier Z906's (mines are newer ones with new Logi Logo), and Creatives/Cambridge SoundWorks was the fuse in the Sub blew all the time and was not something you just pop out a little flap like a 13amp plug so a bit of work to source and fit.

Considered some bookshelf speakers and an amp/DAC? I use an SMSL AD18 with some Q Acoustics 3010 speakers. Had them a few years and have been really pleased by their performance, although bass is lacking if that's your thing. I live in a flat so less bass works for me.
