Got my E6600 yesterday and already have my DFI 975XG.

This board is still picky with overclocking, setting ram speed to 400 is the only way I can go over 320 fsb, other users are reporting similar issues on certain settings.

Ram is Team Group 667mhz. This board won't run 333mhz 1:1 (stock).

anyway enough complaining this is what I'm doing so far without even trying.

vcore is actually 1.45, there is a droop under load, though I have not experimented with the vcore much at all. On stock voltas I can easily get a 300mhz oc, so more may be possible at stock.

there seems to be an issue with CPU-Z vcore reporting as ITE shows a different voltage..

looks like the reports Iheard of this board are true, even with 0707 bios around 375fsb is the max. Certainly the CPU is capable of more, this E6600 is capable of 3.85. So i'm limited by the fsb of the board atm.

Still 3385 is not too shabby.

    will run 3dmark05 next..

Yeah, from what I've heard the DFI is the worst out of the Badaxe/DFI/Asus boards. Doesn't seem to be possible to go above 400MHz FSB at all at the moment on this board.

back at stock volts now at 3384mhz, these Conroe's are killer overclockers. The only limit is really the motherboards atm. Waiting for the RD600 chipset boards now..

the Gigabyte 965P-DS3 seems to have the best fsb potential so far, a user has managed 483 over at XS.

Alas only one PCIE 16 slot, so no Crossfire..

what with the DFI board? No.

The pencil mods for the DFI are for the Nb and Ram. The Nb already runs at over 70 degrees with about 1.6v through it, knowking it up to 2v would severly strain the chipset and shorten the lifespan.

Remember the DFI board is locked to the 1066 strap atm.

what kind of temps are you getting with dual prime95 running?

Have you managed 8 hours dual prime with 3.8ghz (torture test not small fft's), if so that's impressive?

    Regards

Yeah I have done over 8 hours at 3.870 and with only 1.45v. Since then though I have tried a different motherboard and then gone back to this Asus and now it needs 1.55v WTF ?? Im trying to find out what im doing differently.

    BTW

Easyrider couldn't get over 320 FSB with his 2GB G.skill HZ on his DFI but when he tried some older 1GB stick he could get above 380.

    Hi mate,

Was that torture test or small fft's on dual prime?

I can manage 375fsb, but like others you have to knck the ram down to 400.

Temps are weird though, especially under load with prime 95 torture test, goes up to 56 degrees with fans at high. This is with high end water cooling too. Idle is at 35 degrees on this warm day.

    regards

    That was with small fft's.

My priming temps were 49 deg max when I did 3.870 @ 1.45v

Now its hitting 60 with 1.5 + which is stopping me from running prime atm until i find out what im doing differently.

I have to run my ram at 4:3 to get over 410 FSB.

I'm finding the same, though ambient temps are higher today.

Torture test knocks out 55 degrees today @ 1.4vcore, which is high, that's an increase of 20 degrees over idle temps. Something must be out.

My AMD 4800X2 used to hit 45 degrees under load with 1.5vcore. With the IHS removed it was down to 37.
The difference betwen idle and load was only 8-10 degrees with the AMD

In comparison 55 degrees, which is an increase of 20 degress seems insane..

These chips deffo do run hot on full load with a few more volts through them everyone who owns one is finding that out. People do say that 60 deg is ok but who knows yet

Do Conroes have the ability to throttle like P4s?
