Did Corsair just silently put out the best B Die bin on the market? 4000 16-16-16-36 XMP at 1.40v!

How much gaming performance would you lose using 4000+mhz ram and leaving the fclk at 1800 decoupled vs 3600mhz fclk 1800 coupled?

Im using 4400mhz ram now but timings are at 19 and I'm temped to try and grab these corsair sticks but if you lose too much gaming performance I'll look for 3600mhz

From what I remember running it uncoupled adds around 10ns extra latency.

I've seen people talking about extra latency and less Read/Write/Copy but what does that mean for gaming? with it 3600mhz/1800 coupled vs 4400mhz/1800 decoupled @1080p = +-fps?

I've been searching for awhile today and seen a lot of youtube videos showing +5fps with coupled and other videos showing decoupled winning in many games but reading reviews and reddit everyone says stay coupled for performance but i only care about gaming.

If i'm losing 15+fps with using 4400mhz then i'll sell this ram and move to the ones in his thread or similar

Let's put it this way 10ns extra latency is 15% extra on a very average latency of 70ns.

That's not good.

I can't tell you how it affects gaming but consider everyone says the memory should be in sync and even AMD advises it then I think it's safe to assume that's the best thing to do.

Just down clock your ram.

Find your max fclk and sync your memory to this speed. Use the dram calc for the timings.

FYI you set your memory speed to 2x fclk just incase you didn't know that.

So 1800 fclk = 3600MHz on the memory

No need to sell that RAM (especially if it's the Patriot Viper you are talking about). Just set to 3600C16 at 1.35v and be done with it.

Thanks for the info, my ram is the Patriot Viper Steel 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-35200C19 4400MHz

I've checked the dram calculator and thats a lot of numbers lol, do i need to change everything thats there ?, as for the fclk is it a simply change to 1900 or again im changing voltage and a lot of other numbers

I keep it simple.

Leave SOC voltage on auto
Put the primary and secondary timings in for the ram and set the voltage. (Use fast timings)
Set the FLCK manually as well just to be sure.

The dram voltage you use will be a little trial and error. Start with what the dram calc suggests but you may end up needing more if you are unstable.

I've been messing with my 10900Ks ring ratio and the Viper DDR4 memory timings and can tell you games feel waaaaay smoother with lower latencies. Its difficult to describe how much more of an immsersive experience it was when I played at say 41.9ms vs 66ms which is what my systems default BIOS clocks too. So, quite a difference for sure and again shows the value of overclocking, in general.


Anything below 45ms (according to AIDA64 stress test average) is meant to be good for this generation of chips and an overall pleasant gaming experience.

Thanks guy, I changed the ram to 3600mhz but might try 3866mhz and try and get the flck up to 1933 if im lucky, my memory latency in aida is 67ns which atm i have no idea how good/bad that is.

Sorry for hijacking this thread about my stuff, the ram that was posted look's really good tho

I’m starting to get the parts together for a new build and thought I would take a punt on this. 4x 8Gb sticks have just arrived. It’s looking like it will be a while until I actually manage to get all the parts to actually build a pc though! Last build has The Ballistix Micron E at 3600 C16 so interested to see what I can do with this stuff.

I have the 'Corsair Dominator SE Contrast' running stable at 3800Mhz with 1.338V and 16-18-18-36 timings. It's out of the box xmp is 3466 with 16-18-18-36 at 1.35V.
Seems like a pretty close match for the OPs RAM.

I've barely done any testing to see if I can do better. I just set XMP, raised the clockspeed, lowered voltage and then set the IF to 1900Mhz with a SOC fixed voltage of 1.15.
I may as well try to see if it I can hit 4000, but I'm fine as is truth be told.

Would very much appreciate if you could show a ZenTimings screenshot when using the XMP profile without making any adjustments to any of the secondary/tertiary timings/settings

I am considering purchasing these but would like to know what they default to so I can test the same settings on my Viper Steels 4400 mhz kits.
