Hi,
So I have my personal computer and my work laptop (locked down, can't install anything etc) connected to a DP 1.4 Bi-Directional Switch. So I want to be able to switch between the 2 computers on the one monitor (Acer XB271H).
Now the personal PC works fine but I can't get the monitor to come on when I switch to the laptop. The laptop is a HP Probook and does have a Displayport on it. If I connect the monitor directly to the laptop using the DP connection it works fine. So I am a little confused why it won't work?
Also I have a HDMI 2 port KVM and I was hoping I could take the VGA cable from the work laptop and put a VGA to HDMI adapter on it so it would work with this KVM, but it doesn't. I have since read that an adapter isn't converting the VGA analog signal to a digital HDMI one. So if I found a cable that did convert would it work with the KVM? If it would work can anyone recommend me a cable?
