Any PC in my house comes under my domain as it is on my network (do you get where this is going?) so therefore my computer, the wifes and my laptop and the sons computer all have admin accounts for me.

Now the wife doesn;t mind and if the son ever complains he is welcom to disconnect from my network and get his own setup + internet connection.

Ha! Ha! See how different things are... :D :p

Yeah, 'your mates' - riiiiiight...

Not too fussed who uses my PC, no one has ever done anything to it that I couldn't easily fix. I think I'm more bothered about what I use when mines' not around, I'm always moaning at my dad for using old noisy SCSI drives and not enough RAM.

Lol. I never said I didn't use it for porn, that's what I bought the damn thing for in the first place. :D

not bothered who uses my machine, but always have it passworded so anyone who wants to use it has to give me ring (pees me off when people leave coffee cups at my desk)

I used to share with my family til I built my own.

No one has any call to use mine really, there's another PC they all share, this one's mine. It's passworded, but my friends use it occasionaly when they come over, but it's only usually to show me something they want me to see, they've all got their own machines. I am slightly funny about people using it though. I dunno why.

I hate ppl using my computer, sweaty hands- sweaty mouse, greasy finger prints on my moniter. Randomly installs programs on the wrong Dir, alway clicks "ok" to those "windows Warning" popups..

I don't share my PC with anyone, mainly because I'm the only person who lives in the house, but even when I lived with my parents, my mum had her PC, and I had mine.

At work I don't let anyone else use my laptop either, even though it isn't 'mine' as such it has data on there that shouldn't be seen by anyone else so I eliminate the chance of that happening by not letting anyone else use the machine.

Anyone who is going to be near my pc, I trust to use it anyway. As with a lot of people, I've had my own since I was about 12, so sharing has never really been a problem for me.

My pc is in my room at uni so as such 99% of its use is by me, but guests are welcome to press some buttons if they want to, so long as they dont change anything, heaven forbid that somebody should mess with my settings!

What are the chances that the IT pollicy at your work says the laptop should not contain any personal data :p

As we had that sorta policy when I was working at my last job. I was allowed to snoop about the PCs to make sure they were adheering to the rules. I Was even allowed to snoop about on partners' machines as the rules applied to "everyone". :p

At uni we all have our own pc's so theres no reason for others to come using mine - although when we watch films it's on my pc cos i have the biggest monitor in the house (20") :D
At home tho this pc doesn't get used much (bar by me) - maybe my sister will check my music or use the web if she's upstairs but the parents aren't very good with a pooter so no worries there :p

At uni however i always lock the desktop when i leave my room cos the number of times i've left it and come back to find every proggy on my desktop trying to start at once ! or my msn name changed is just silly :o

I'm a generous guy and i don't mind anybody using my pc. As long as they understand that i'm also a fruit cake with a history of extreme violence and are willing to lose certain, how should i say it, parts of their anatomy if they were to damage said pc in any way. :D

(Actually i'm not really violent at all-GETOFFMYPCNOWBEFOREIRIPYOURHEADOFFAAARGGGHHHHH-although i am prone to verbal outbursts) ;)

No one is allowed within a 1 mile exclusion zone of my PC, and as the OP says.. people touching monitors really annoys me, even if its the monitors at work.

Funny enough i almost screamed at a colleague for doing that to a works pc monitor. Especially as it is one of the soft-screen ones and i could see the swirly patterns his finger caused on the display.

Took a deep breathe, gained some perspective and explained calmly to him that he shouldn't do that. I must be spending too much time on my pc obsession if i'm getting proprietory feeling towards my work pc. (Superpi 1M in 1m 49s btw on this particular relic) :p

My dad has a work PC and I have just found my mum a cracking deal on a laptop, £58 for a 700Mhz, 128 RAM, DVD, Windows ME Toshiba satellite pro.

It's an old one from the school, I got discount on it 'cos I help the technicions ;)

They now leech all my bandwidth :( :( :(
