HSS and other small hire shops normally sell off their equipment after a certan amount of time. Unless your looking at a big commerical genny on a road legal chassy you might as well buy one. We got a 9hp Honda genny with 240/110 output for about 500 quid. Just be careful when getting one they don't always put out enough current to use all the tools under the sun.

There's a company in Yorkshire that do this, they have contracts with the NHS, MOD etc. They are not cheap. I was looking to buy a 300Kva but I could get one new overseas cheaper than they could sell it second hand! I can't for the life of me remember their name, I recall they sold ex mod landrovers etc as well.

Generators in the UK are not cheap, you can try Jubilee if you want one new, occasionally they have the odd second hand unit (selling for an old customer who has upgraded etc).

What sort of size are you after? And is it for use in the UK?
