DVD question

Just received a DVD in the post and the silver bit right next to the centre has cracked. The lighter silver area that covers the rest of the DVD is fine. Does this mean it's borked?

Obviously I would "test" it but it's a film and I want to watch it from start to finish in one sitting.

The only way to really test it is to play it all the way through, no two cases are the same, so to speak.

I imagine a crack is pretty serious, chances are it could crack more under the stress of spinning in the DVD drive and shatter. I've seen it happen to a CD-ROM before anyway. Since you received it cracked I'd go for replacement/refund!

Even if the crack doesn't spread it might cause extra noise when spun. Send it back.
