Hi, I currently have an ECS GF8100VM-M5 NVIDIA nForce720a AM2+ motherboard, I was wondering what is the best possible AM2+ CPU I can put on this motherboard, it is currently using an AMD Phenom 9500+ AM2+ CPU.

I can find an AMD Phenom II 940 Black Edition AM2+ CPU which looks pretty good, its clocked at 3ghz however I wanted to firstly make sure its compatible with my motherboard, and secondly is it the best possible upgrade for this socket type.

How considerable would be the performance increase?

    I'm using Hyper X DDR2 1066, ATI HD4870.

    Benchmark estimates would be good!

    Thanks ocuk
