Greetings!

I've been having some problems with my hard drives lately, with Windows installations gradually corrupting until I'm forced to format and re-install. I think one of my drives might be faulty.

However... my most recent installation went without a hitch after I replaced a SATA cable and tried a different port on my mobo, BUT i can't get into Windows without the installation CD in the drive!

With HD set as the first boot device the computer POSTs, then says "error loading OS". If I set CD as first boot device and leave the Windows disk in, then just wait when it say "press any key to boot from CD....." then it boots to the desktop, and I can remove the disk and install programs/play games/use the internet/etc. I.e. no problems at all.

I guess there's something wrong with the boot sector on my drive?? Tried repair console, FIXBOOT, FIXMBR, CHKDSK, no joy :(

Any ideas what's going on?
