External H/D Encryption

Hi Everyone!

I am going to be storing backups remotely (at a different address) and the easiest way for me to do this is to use an external H/D.

However, I don't want to just leave the data open to anyone who wants to read it, so want to put a layer of protection in the way.

Can anyone suggest a good encryption software, preferably freeware?

You can't go wrong with truecrypt, especially as its free.
