Does anyone have more info on this TAX that the government has introduced? One report says we will be having to pay large taxes on personal computer usage, but new reports are saying we wont have to pay anything. Does someone with a better understanding of the law have more info? http://business.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,16849-2159286,00.html
Surely they'd never be able to apply this to people who have already bought equipment throught these schemes. That'd be a lot of money for people who are tied into 5 year finance purchases through their work.
Seems somewhat dubious to me. Firstly, most 'business machines' are generally low spec, so 2000 quid wouldnt be anywhere near the cost - nearer 500 quid. And im not sure that the political heat is worth it....
Does seem like something government would try, but it would be very hard to police. What would class as personal use? I work for a car hire company, so lets say someone spends 1 hour looking at Avis, Hertz, Europcar websites, how do I know if they were researching the competition or were browsing car prices for their holiday? How do I know if emails sent between coleagues are personal or business? All I know is this had my MD calling me in his office today with a major panic attack on.
