I'm off to thailand with my gf from 18th August - 8th September this year, we've both got a multitude of things on the rest of the time so this is really our only chance to get over there.

However, i've just been doing a little research and found out that this is during thai rainy season...seems as though it gets pretty bad up in northern thailand and changes daily in southern thailand. This has ruined our plans a little as we had found about a weeks worth of various tours/treks we wanted to do around Chiang Mai, so we were just wondering, how bad does it really get? Is rainy season really rainy season? Does it rain every single day? Does it rain all day?

Also, in light of the rainy season...what places should we definately avoid?

It can rain for a week without stopping or be sunny for a week then rain, its variable and you can never predict the weather, above poster is right if you can avoid it at that time..
