Thinking about trading in my Fiesta for an Escort or something in the summer, and was looking around on AT. Can someone tell me how it works, like what is the order of Chincane Cabaret Flight Encore Ghia Finesse Zetec . . . etc I had a google fest but can only find adverts and stuff, anyone know the whole line up and the order (lowest to best spec?) or got a link for me? I know that the Ghia is the best, and the Zetec is up there too, but where do the rest fall in? Cheers
Theres only one escort id drive and thats a cossie. Maybe a mondeo would bea better bet? Or are you sure on the escort
You'd be better off with a Focus tbh, the Escort was never a great car. Something like a 1.6 or 1.8 Zetec or Ghia maybe.
No not sure, just wondering what I'm looking at when see certain models advertised, like if I see a 1.6 LX and a 1.6 Saphire, how do I know what the difference is. I'm not buying a cossie because I have about £1800 to spend and I'm 20 with 0 NCB.

mk1/2 mondeo spec (need fox here really) off the top of my head is: special models- aspen etc lx glx zetec ghia ghia x you want zetec or higher really, its usually not much of a price difference between one with poverty spec in a crap colour than one in a 'right' colour with a few toys.
You can also get nice Mk4 Astras for £1800 Seriously the Escort is a dreadful car (excluding the Cossie obviously)
Ok I thought the Escort would be good since I like my Fiesta, apart from the speed issue of course, 59bhp blows.
It really isn't a nice car - nasty plastic interior, noisy, appalling handling, etc The Mk 4 Astra on the other hand is a nice car and cheaper than the Focus (poorer residules)
I just looked up a few Astra's, and did a quote on a 3dr 1.6 Envoy through Admiral, £500 less than for a 1.8 mondeo! That 1.6 Astra Envoy even had a spoiler on it, score.
get a mark2 2l mondeo ghia x, full leather aircon cd changer crusie control etc etc and you can get a decent one in your budget easily Tom.
I have been looking to get a mondeo ghia x, should i really be too bothered about milage? What kind of milage / problems have people on here got ?
Cool, but get the 1.4 16V over the 1.6 8V Same insurance group (group 4) but more power (89 vs 74bhp), quicker, more economical (40 vs 34mpg) and a much nicer engine
# Ahh good to know, I made that mistake with my fiesta, I got a 1.3 over the 1.25, only to discover the 1.25 has more power and is more economical. Don't want to do that again.
