No such problems with my heated windscreen. Still have to scrape the side windows though :( Let hope cars start coming with heated side windows as well soon.

Never have to de-ice the Westfield - doesn't have a windscreen at all :)

Do you even get frost on your windscreen down there you soft southern lot? ;)

I've always just used a scraper and worn some gloves, takes no time at all.

You don't wanna be running your car for ages after starting it, not the best way to warm up the engine. I use a bottle or kettle full of luke-warm water and splash it over the windows when I leave, takes 30 seconds and is far less annoying than scraping :)

this

kettle is mearly a means a carry a large ammount of water in one go

Just needs putting on for few seconds to raise it to about 25/30 degrees which is warm enough to melt out the ice without freezing again straight away.

By the time that water is at freezing point, your heater has usually got the screen warm enough to stop it falling below freezing

I've quite often seen people trying to thaw a layer of ice using only the wipers - presumably they're hoping the friction will sort it out!

Has anyone actually had to scrape ice yet this year?
