    as mentioned in another thread, here it is ;)

    just post how good or bad you think this will be and how you think it will perform.

    il start with me..

    i believe it will out perform the X1900 as i remember reading that the X1900 was bought out as a rival for the 7800GTX 512MB so logically nVIDIA wont be releasing it as a rival to a rival of a last gen card.. but this is my opinion which im allowed ;)

    what do you guys think?

    hi there.

    I agree, but I don't think its mere speculation to suggest it will outperform the X1900.

    BTW, where are you in Somerset, anywhere near Wells? :)

    I think it'll be a good card, im not to sure now if it will beat the x1900, if it does though i don't think it will be by that much. :)

    I think it will beat the X1900 easily in both price and performance.

    Nope lol, look at the x1900, thats hardly much faster than the 512mb GTX, so i think the G71 will be faster, but not by a huge amount, will be enough for them to get their Crown back, afterall that is what its getting released for. :)

    The X1900XT is meant to compete with the G71. Each companies next cards (G80/R600) are competitors.... so i guess the X1900XT is meant for the G71.
    Any shader intensive games will be X1900XT favourable, but obviously it cant match the pixel pushing power for the G71.
    I'd expect the G71 to be, on average, faster. Loads in some cases (in a similar fashion to how, in certain cases the X1900XT can be 100% faster than the 7800GTX 512), bit in some, even and obviously behind in some others.
    I'd also expect i to cost a lot if they use similar memory to the GTX 512. ATI are using the older samsung memory which they will always be able to get cheaper. So i think they kinda know the G71 will be faster, but they also know that nvidia cant sell it as cheap.
    So, my theory.... G71 for the overal performance crown.
    X1900XTX for price and IQ crown.

    I would say the G71 is going to be faster than the X1900XT, but i don't think you'll be getting much change from £600 knowing nvidia... :(

    ATi = 48 Shader pipes
    nVIDIA = 32 pipes..

    and nvidia is using a 90 nanometere core.. as oposed to 120 or 110nm in the 7800 series so this will save money.. and i think the x1900 was meant as a competitor for the 7800GTX 512MB rather than the 7900.. because ive read that and many people have told me :p

    the 7900 will be better than the x1900.. imho

    Goksly where does R580 beat G70-512 by 100%?! Most of benchies I've seen have it edging ahead by 5% at best. Sometimes being beaten even by G70-256. Tbh I'm very disappointed with R580 :( was expecting a quicker card.

    I think G71 will spank R580 silly, and hopefully will be cooler and less power hungry to boot.

    Id say at the minute the cards are not competing, x1900 isnt the 512mb GTX competitor, and the G71 will not be the x1900 competitor, the only competition they are in at the minute is the top dog crown, until they release their real next gen cards in the summer.

    512mb GTX was released as the x1800 XT ended up faster than the 256mb GTX, so ATi took the crown, Nvidia thought we can't have that, and speed bumped the GTX to take the crown back, ATi thought nah we want the crown back again, and so took it with the x1900, and added a few more shader units, Nvidia now want the crown back, so are releasing the G71 to do that, so they are speedbumping yet again, and adding to it just like ATi, its all 1 up manship for the crown, until they release their proper next gen dx10 cards in the summer R600/G80 which will be competing against each other. :)

    I've not seen 100% either but have seen 50-80% in Fear especially, sometimes COD2. But in general, its about 15% faster than the 512.

    Now back on topic. I think G71 will either be a 24 pipeline card working at 750MHz or a 32pipeline card working at 600MHz. I just think 750Mhz for a 32pipeline card is a bit optimistic atm. Of course, i would be pleased if i were proved wrong ;)

    Its very important you read my post thoroughly. Im 99% sure a review I read gave the X1900XTX a 100% lead in fear at 2048x1(something) with 4xAA/8xAA. As always, most of the reviews have similar, but not the same percentages.
    Obviously this is something like 10fps vs 20fps. But in marketing speak - its 100% performance difference none the less. ATI use this trick and I will expect nvidia to do it as well.... go go gadget doom3 :p
    I would be surprised on average if the G71 wasnt on average 10%+ better in most situations.... but then I would also expect it to be 10%+ more expencive :p Will defo be a good card though.

    I agree with most posters. The G71 will probably be quicker, but will also be a lot more expensive (especially if the 7800GTX 512MB) is anything to go by.

    Prices on the 7800 series will go down, and the 7900 series will fit into that price slot.

    Just take a look at the other NVIDIA cards, they all go down in price over time :)

    The only time we may see an increase in price of any kind is when the G80 hits the streets.

    Maybe 32 pipes but there is a doube MADD performance in the G7x
    so you could sya:

    X1900 = 48 shaders
    G71 = 64.

    Yeha, the X1900 is the competitor to the GTX 512 and is approximately equal in speed, better shader performance which will pay off in the future.

    Here is the consolidated chart of benchmark numbers:
    http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=64136

    Roughly 50-50 wins and losses with the X1900 making big wins in FEAR contributing to the wins giving it the edge.

    The 7900 will be a highly predictable easy win for Nvidia. What will be interesting will be ATIs response, R590 chips are floating about. These presumably will be modified R580 to run at higher clocks so maybe running at 750MHz and GDDR4 looks possible for it.

    The other interesting thing you can learn from this: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=64136
    Is that the GTX 512 is faster than the X1900XTX is more games than vice versa.

    Still, the X1900XTX is released at a bad time without any shader intensive games around.
