Morning @Atom80

Thanks for the update.

Probably not a good idea to try and send it to me in Kazakhstan. It would probably get held up at customs for a month or more and I'm on a construction site in the middle of nowhere.:D

I'll be home on the 23rd and will have tools to open the laptop then if they can send the new SSD to my home address. If that's the problem then quickly resolved. Otherwise I could then send to mendit and return the SSD.

If that's ok? ;)

Cheers,

John.

@Atom80 , perhaps get the design team to offer larger feet to purchase as an add on? That way the reviews would still be about slimness and for someone who wants that better airflow , they can? :)

Hi @RyzenJunkie - request already skyped and emailed to the team , along with the rest of your feedback :)

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, and rest assured our team do take on board these things, no matter how small. Its all in the detail :)

Actually i was talking to somebody the other day who was moaning about the Macbook pro and how Apple is constantly thinning their devices at the expense of battery life and ports etc. I also have heard this same sentiment from Youtubers recently. Gigabyte obviously have their design team and are able to build new devices. have they thought of a "Consumer Edition" laptop , say with a 16-17" screen with tiny bezels, lots of ports such as SD, USB 3, USB C etc and also making it thicker so it has enormous battery life and a fast charging system built in such as modern phones do so it charges faster. Perhaps with 2 ram slots and 2-3 m.2 slots? I know it would be pricey but Apple charge over 6k for their top of the line , fully maxed Macbook. Gigabyte could charge less than that , make a decent profit and also give creators the flexibility they desire. There's a big movement on Youtube at the moment where people are moving to PC based notebooks. I myself have made the move due to the above and couldn't be happier.

I've lots of ideas on a potential device , how it could be marketed and the spec sheet that would entice people like me , Youtubers , Creators such as video editors and how to get them to buy.

6k for a Macbook Pro that has 10hr battery life at best , 4 ports , crazy thin is ridiculous. You could design a laptop based on the above, populate it with a decent i9 cpu, or even better the Ryzen Pro cpu's , decent non max q gpu, or even better vega gpu , 32gb ram 1tb m.2 and leave people with the choice to upgrade the storage with the spare slots etc.

P.S If you do the above , i want crediting haha. Also if you want to employ me as a visionary , aka Steve Jobs , im all ears lol

Hi @RyzenJunkie

Did you not catch a view of this beas when it was in stock at OCUK: AERO15 with RTX2080 + i9 +64GB Ram + 2TB SSD (plus spare M.2 bay)

That was retailing at £4,499 and was exclusive to our two "specialist" retail partners, OCUK and a.n.other.

Yes that's all packed inside a 15.6" chassis, but along the lines of the spec you mention, right?

Not one to get overly excited but...I Looooooove this laptop :)

If there is 1 thing i think that could be improved is the feet underneath. With the intake fans being underneath , why not make the feet say 2mm taller so there is more air to go underneath?

C'est moi said:
Does the AERO not come with the additional stick on feet that the AORUS machines do? @Atom80

Hi @MiSJAH - no we don't ship those, but i know what you are referring to, and have sent the question / request to our man Rex !

Well look what I found:

Hi @Atom80

I’ve received and installed the new ssd. Laptop boots quick and easy straight into the bios.

I’ve tried Ubuntu trial and it can see the blank ssd no problem.

What’s my next step to recover the OS? (Pressing F9 does nothing)

Cheers,

John.

Ps. You want the old ssd sent somewhere?

Edit: I'm guessing just reinstall with windows media creation tool

Hey @Scorpuk - you arrived early right? Welcome back and glad the SSD was waiting for you.

Sorry for delay, missed this post, and are now in Taiwan, hence the strange reply time :)

You are right regarding the O/S recovery "reinstall with windows media creation tool"

Maybe you already tried and succeeded....... let us know.

@Atom80 I've reinstalled windows 10 with the media creation tool.

I am trying to restore the F9 recovery partition. Will the FiXF9 tool from support work when there was no recovery partition created during windows install? Just be nice to have it. :)

@jonneymendoza Nope, didn't clone it. Didn't expect it to fail in the first year.

Hi @Scorpuk - response from R&D:

"nope, F9 function request relate partition to work with it. But it won't recognize additional OS like second Windows or Linux."

"So if the customer use our recovery disc to restore the OS back, he may not able to use Linux in the system."

"The only way to restore the F9 function back is to use the recovery USB disc."

If you need further info, let us know.

Hi,

When you choose silent in the fan profile , it truly is silent but it downclocks the cpu. In deep mode you can only lower it to 30% which is audible if in a really quiet room like i am now. Any way to change the silent mode to use full clock when the need arises? Seems like a choice of quietness when browsing but having to go and change to deep when you want to do something heavy. A 1 solution would be great :)

Hi @Atom80

The FixF9 from support downloads created a recovery partition, but that's all.
I don't remember a recovery USB. :(

Anywho. The laptop is up and running so I am happy. Thank you for all the help.

One last question.
The defective NVMe. Do you want me to send it back to you or just dispose of it?

I head back to Kazakhstan on 11th June. :)

Cheers,

John.

Hi @Scorpuk = sorry for delay. Glad your up and running again.

Hang onto the SSD, I don't think you will need to return it, but just in case I get asked in the near future may be wise to keep hold if that's OK.

Thanks and safe trip back to Kazakhstan
